Inside Crater Lake National Park there are only two places to sleep under a roof: Crater Lake Lodge on the rim and the Cabins at Mazama Village 7 miles south. Together they have about 110 rooms, they're open only from late spring to early fall, and they're full the whole season. Everything else is outside the park, from 20 miles out (Fort Klamath, Union Creek) to nearly 60 (Klamath Falls).

- Cancellation: free up to 7 days before arrival; after that non-refundable, except if the park closes or can't be reached.

Crater Lake Lodge
Best for: waking up on the rim. The lodge sits at Rim Village. Some of its 71 rooms look over the lake; others face Rim Village or the forest, so ask for a lake view when you book. There's a dining room; in 2026 dinner was served from May 16 to October 13. Rooms have no TV, phone or air conditioning and rely on windows for fresh air.
The Cabins at Mazama Village
Best for: a bed and private shower next to the campground. Ten cabins with four rooms each, in the forest at Mazama Village near the Annie Spring Entrance Station. Each room has its own bathroom. The village has a café, the camper store (groceries, propane, gas) and the Mazama Campground. Opening can be delayed by snow. At 6,000 feet there's no air conditioning.
Outside the park: closest options
Distances are from park headquarters, per the National Park Service. Places marked year-round are the ones to look at for a winter trip.
Fort Klamath (20 mi south)
- Crater Lake Resort, 2 mi south of Fort Klamath on Hwy 62: 14 cabins plus RV and tent sites, store, showers, laundry, pets welcome. Open year-round, but 8 cabins close in winter.
- Aspen Inn: 4 rooms, 4 suites, 4 cabins and a cottage, pets welcome, April to October.
- Jo's Motel & Campground: 5 rooms and 1 cabin, organic grocery and deli, year-round, no pets.
Union Creek (21 mi west)
- Union Creek Resort: 9 rooms and 23 cabins, store and restaurant, pets welcome, year-round.
Diamond Lake (25 mi north)
- Diamond Lake Resort: 48 motel rooms and 40 cabins, restaurants, store and gas station, pets welcome, year-round. The 25-mile distance is through the park's North Entrance; from November to mid-June that road is snow-covered and used by snowmobiles.
- Whispering Pines Motel, 15 mi east of the North Entrance at Hwy 138 and Hwy 97: 10 rooms, store, pets welcome, year-round.
Prospect (32 mi west)
- Prospect Historic Hotel: 24 rooms, pets allowed in some, year-round; the dining room is open May to October.
Chiloquin (33 mi south)
- Sleep Inn & Suites, on Hwy 97 just north of Hwy 62: 76 rooms, no pets, year-round.
- Agency Lake Resort: 3 cabins plus RV and tent sites, late May through October.

Farther out
The next towns with lodging are Chemult (42 miles), Shady Cove (55 miles) and Klamath Falls (57 miles). This list leaves out bed-and-breakfasts, guest houses and vacation rentals, which you'll find on booking sites around the same towns.
When to book
- For a summer trip, book the lodge or cabins as soon as your dates are set: the concessioner says they're at capacity all season, and the booking window is a full year.
- May and June are the edge of the season: the lodge and cabins may be open while snow still blocks parts of the park; East Rim Drive usually isn't clear until about July. Check the park's current conditions before you go.
- From mid-October to May the in-park rooms are closed. Stay at one of the year-round places above; the park's entrance fee drops to $20 per vehicle from November 1 to May 21.
Camping instead
Mazama Campground has 214 sites, some with hookups, and there are more campgrounds at Union Creek, Diamond Lake and around Fort Klamath. See Crater Lake camping.
