Lap of Nature publishes campground guides, best-of lists, reviews and camping how-tos. This page explains how we make them.
What we rely on
- Primary sources first. Fees, seasons, site counts and reservation rules come from the agency or operator that runs the place: the National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, state park systems and the campgrounds themselves.
- Sources are listed. Every guide names the sources it relied on at the bottom of the page.
- No invented numbers. If we can't confirm a fee, a date or a rule, we leave it out rather than guess.
Photos
Photos are credited. A stock photo never stands in for a specific campground or place it doesn't show.
Dates
Each page shows the date its content last changed. We do not refresh dates without changing the content.
Independence
No one can pay for a place in our lists or a positive verdict. Some links on the site are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). Whether a place has an affiliate program plays no part in whether we recommend it.
