This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on lapofnature.com, what they do, and how you can control them. It works together with our privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as scripts that read information about your browser, can do the same job without a file. On this page, "cookies" covers both.
Cookies set by this site
These are strictly necessary for the site to work securely. They contain no information about who you are.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| lap-of-nature-session | Keeps a technical session for your visit | 2 hours |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Protects the site against cross-site request forgery | 2 hours |
Analytics
We measure how many people visit and which pages they read, so we know which guides are useful and which need work. We look at this information in aggregate only.
- Google Tag Manager. We use Google Tag Manager, a service from Google, to load analytics tools on the site. Tag Manager itself is a loader; the tools it loads, such as Google Analytics, may set cookies and collect information like your browser, device, approximate location, the pages you view and how you arrived. Google processes this information under the Google Privacy Policy. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Our own visitor statistics. We also run our own statistics script, loaded from bytelane.top, to count visits and page views. It may use cookies or similar technologies, and the data is used only for statistics about this site.
Affiliate partners
Some links on the site are affiliate links. When you follow one, the company you visit, or the affiliate network it works with, may set cookies on its own site to record that you came from us, so that we can be paid a commission if you book or buy. Those cookies are set by the other company, not by us, and are governed by its own cookie and privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure.
How to control cookies
- Browser settings. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, including only third-party cookies. The site works without analytics cookies.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Content blockers. Privacy extensions that block tracking scripts will also stop the analytics described above.
If you block the strictly necessary cookies, the pages will still load, but some security features may not work.
Changes
If we add or remove tools that use cookies, we will update this page.
