Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood

Loop Sites
Quail 43
Red-Tail 36
Cooper's Hawk 27
Blackhawk 17 (tents only, no electric)
  • $50 a night for sites with electricity, $25 without, covering one RV plus one other vehicle; extra vehicles are $15 a night, so check with the park before bringing more.
  • Modern restrooms with free hot showers for registered campers.
  • Stay limit 14 nights in a 30-day period.
  • Book online or at 877-MY-PARKS up to a year ahead, with a $3.60 reservation fee. The park says it often sells out in spring and fall.

Camp Verde RV resorts

  • Verde Valley RV Ranch (also called Verde Ranch RV Resort), 1105 N Dreamcatcher Drive: full-hookup sites with a pool, hot tub, fitness center, laundry, tennis, cabins, and motorcoach parking. It's close to Montezuma Castle National Monument, Jerome and the Verde Valley wineries. Phone (928) 567-7126.

Without hookups

  • Oak Creek Canyon: Cave Spring takes RVs up to 36 feet and Pine Flat takes RVs too, but neither has hookups, and both have a 7-day limit. Manzanita is tent-only.
  • Boondocking: dispersed camping is banned on 82,650 acres around Sedona. West of town, you can camp only in eight designated areas, five along Forest Road 525, free and first come, first served, with no wood or charcoal fires (gas stoves are allowed). See our Sedona dispersed camping guide.

Tips for RVers

  • Highway 89A through Oak Creek Canyon north to Flagstaff is a winding mountain road.
  • For the rest of the state, see our Arizona RV parks guide.
